Our replacement windshields may be obtained at a more reasonable price with enhancements that Beechcraft does not offer.
Factory sloped windshields are 3/16 or 1/4 inch thick. D'Shannon Aviation currently manufactures glass that is 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch thick, which have greater margins of safety and noise dampening qualities.
In the American Bonanza Society Newsletter, dated December 1982, Bonanza expert Norm Colvin noted, “The primary source of cabin noise comes through the windshield and side cabin windows”. “There is no greater improvement in cabin silence that can be made than the installation of a thicker windshield.”
Actual collisions in which birds have been struck in flight have cracked thicker windshields, but rarely have broke them. D'Shannon Aviation windshields are not only stronger, but they also add strength to the airframe around them.
D’Shannon Aviation has set the standard in beech glass replacements and conversions for decades. We use only the very finest acrylics available in the industry. In terms of visual clarity, strength and longevity, these high quality acrylics are the best.
Keep in mind windshields do not last forever.
Take some time to inspect yours. If you find those little cracks (crazing), the acrylic has yellowed, or if over-enthusiastic cleaning has left a lot of very fine scratches, give us a call. Windshields are available as a replacements for all models of Bonanza, Debonair, Travel Air, Baron, and Twin Bonanza, expect for the G36 Coming soon, a table specifying weight for the different thicknesses and a comparison to stock Beech. |
