D’Shannon Aviation’s Tip Tanks offer an additional 40 gallons of fuel to extend your flight range considerably, while allowing you to stay at altitude without interruption.
Tip Tanks enhance overall stability; improve spin characteristics, and lower landing and stalling speeds at the aircraft’s normal gross weight. The FAA has approved a true gross weight increase with the installation of our Tip Tanks. This gross weight increase can be used in either added fuel or payload weight.
Tip Tanks are constructed of high impact, fuel resistant fiberglass, using a state of the art vacuum bagging process. D’Shannon Aviation uses the same fiberglass materials found in military applications such as radomes and missiles.
Fuel is transferred from the tip tanks to each respective main tank by fuel pumps mounted in each wheel well.
These fuel pumps are controlled by panel-mounted toggle switches. D'Shannon Aviation pumps have been in use for over 30 years and have proven to be very durable.
Three separate filters are incorporated in the system as fuel from the tip tanks passes through ¼" aluminum line to the main tanks.
Fuel caps and quick drains are flush mounted for improved aerodynamics and appearance. The caps and drains are double o-ringed for a positive seal. These tanks can also be left empty without any adverse effect.
There are no internal rubber bladders, as found in the main fuel cells. Tip tanks are a direct replacement for the original wing tips so no modification of the wing is required.
These tanks include navigation lights and are pre-wired for strobes which are available separately. Fuel quantity is monitored by panel-mounted gauges and/or clear sight strips located on the tanks.
The real beauty of the gross weight increase is that the added weight does not have to be in fuel. You have the flexibility to carry extra cargo or fuel, the option is yours.
Wing tanks developed by D'Shannon Aviation are STC’d for all Bonanzas and Debonairs except B36TC.
Gross weight increases are available for these tip tanks on all 33, 35, 36, A36 and A36TC bonanzas, except straight 35.
