Bonanza Cooling Baffles

Dear Scott:

I now have my aircraft back from Hampton Roads Helicopters with the D’Shannon Baffle Kit installed. I flew it back from Virginia today to my home airport, Easton, Maryland (ESN).

Nate Steigenga and his folks at HRH did a FABULOUS job. Apart from the attention to detail shown during the project, the performance of the kit vis-à-vis my engine/cylinder temps exceeded my wildest expectations. My number 6 would regularly bump above 400F on climb-out, even in relatively modest temperatures such as we had here today (roughly 55F).

During climb-out today, I could not get the number 6 cylinder to go above 315 – at full throttle! During cruise, I saw an across the board 70-80 degree drop in my normal cruise cylinder temps.

In short, I could not be more pleased.

Thanks for the great product and the equally great installer recommendation.

Regards,

Hi Scott,
Yesterday we took delivery of our E33 Bonanza after its engine upgrade to an IO-470-N using your STC. We are very pleased with the result, both the quality of the installation, and the performance. So far we have only flown it for two hours, however it is very pleasing not to have to worry about high cylinder head temps. With our original engine it was a struggle to keep them under 390 degrees, and now they are all in a flat line across our EDM-700 engine moniter at 330 degrees even with a tight new engine and a high power setting, so when the engine is broken in I am sure that we will be able to expect a long and trouble free life from it due to the vast improvement in engine cooling due to your baffle kit.Thank you and I will take some photos of the installation and send them to you.

David Headlam VH-DXH Australia

Scott;
I recently had my engine rebuilt by Bill Cunningham @ Powermasters where a new D’Shannon baffle kit was installed during the rebuild.
I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how happy we are with your system.
Our CHT temperatures have never been lower, even on hot day climb outs. In cruise we rarely see CHTs in excess of 300 F.
Also, your prompt attention to a very, very minor cosmetic detail after the installation, demonstrated your sincere commitment to customer service after the sale.
The product does exactly what you say it does and we could not be happier, not to mention the fact that it greatly enhances the appearance of the engine compartment.
I look forward to returning for tip tanks in the near future!
Best Regards
Ralph Smith

Engine Conversions

"Your engine upgrade has turned my old bird into a hotrod!" - Alan in TX.

Genesis Conversions

"I'm a little slow getting this posted but one week ago Saturday I picked up my A36 at D'Shannon after they completed adding the tip tanks and flap gap seals to complete a Genesis conversion.

Scott was great to work with. He did everything he said and was on time and on budget. I asked Scott how quickly we could get it done if everything was well planned in advance. He said 10 days and that is what it was. I Dropped it off on Tuesday afternoon May 1 about 3 pm and it was ready on Friday the 11th!

I was a little worried about the paint scheme prior to dropping it off because we didn't do a mockup and it was hard for me to visualize what it would look like. No cause for concern as I think the paint turned out great! It's the first thing people comment and compliment on. They did an amazing job matching it up considering the existing paint is 20 years old.

The best part, and honestly the main reason I added the tips is the GW increase. She now sports a 1616 lb useful load!!!" - John Bailey. Please view installation pictures in our photo gallery.

" Took a lot of research and hard thinking before putting a Genesis Kit on my G36 Bonanza. I could not be happier, N7WZ is flying smooth and no noticeable difference in flight characteristics. Love the endurance , peace of mind on fuel reserves and the Gross Weight Increase. CHTs are looking great with the cooling baffles. LED lights gives an excellent cosmetic appeal with functionality. Scott was very helpful while making decisions on the conversion." Nitin Desai, MD Please view his photos in his album.

Instrument Panels

"This panel is great! My Debonair looks like a modern Beechcraft now, and I can safely fly in the clouds now!" - Alan in TX.

Scimitar Propeller Conversion

"Prop looks killer! Performs great." - Tracy Trent (please see photos in propeller gallery)

"I recently purchased a new De-Iced Super Scimitar Hartzell Propeller from D’Shannon Aviation for my Beech B36TC. D’Shannon has the STC on this absolutely superb propeller installation. Scott Erickson at D’Shannon was a dream to work with and expedited the delivery. We meticulously installed the propeller and on the first flight, the operation was amazing. The balance was perfect, less vibration than I have ever experienced in my 48 years of flying propeller driven aircraft. Even more surprising is that this 82 inch propeller produced a significantly better rate of climb than my old 78 inch propeller. My initial observation was that we were climbing out at a faster rate of climb than I have ever seen in this airplane. That is 300 feet per minute more than I have ever seen. I am delighted with the performance.

Note: The added thrust is apparent when slowing down for the traffic pattern too. The Landing Gear Horn came on more frequently than before just to slow down for the pattern."

Tip Tanks

This Review is from a customer that was having difficulty seeing through his sight strips on his tip tanks (more info in FAQ):

"Hi Scott
Thanks for the advice. I did as you suggested - a light sand, application of epoxy resin and a top layer of clear coat and......ta-da! One restored set of sight gauges through which I can now easily see the fuel level. It was an easy, cheap and hopefully durable solution. Thanks very much!
Cheers,
Martin Wood"
